Rugby remains the game that the great majority of prep schools play. The landscape is shifting, however: although there are still many children and parents who love the game as much as ever, there is a growing number that require reassurance. This year’s National Conference (delivered in collaboration with RFU) will address what prep schools can do to ensure that they are maintaining a game which is exciting and minimises risk.
Most prep schools have undertaken the RFU’s Pledge to deliver the game in a safe, inclusive and child centred way. The Conference will present the practical steps which can be taken to ensure that schools are complying with regulation, the law and best practice. These details will give delegates the confidence that they are presenting the game to their pupils in line with contemporary requirements and recommendations.
The afternoon will feature two practical sessions, both illustrating the RFU-approved methods of introducing skills, especially in the crucial area of the tackle. This will enable Heads of Rugby to support their colleagues in ensuring that their coaching is effective and compliant.
