This seminar is tailored for aspiring and newly appointed subject leaders of Physical Education. It is designed to provide knowledge, strategies, and practical tools needed to lead effectively and deliver exceptional outcomes for students.

Grounded in current research, inspection frameworks and subject-specific developments, the programme offers a clear vision of what high-quality practical PE looks like - key to ensuring consistent delivery and meeting the diverse needs of all learners.

Participants will explore a range of templates and case studies to support the design of coherent and purposeful leaner pathways - moving beyond a simple 'basket of sports'. This seminar will also examine various qualification routes, including GCSE, A Level and vocational options, and how these fit within a well-structured curriculum.

PE Scholar

Will Swaithes is Education Director at PE Scholar, providing training, consultancy and resources to support teachers in schools of all types. He has been involved in recent changes in the subject at national level, and is leader of the Oak Project.  He leads the secondary PGCE programme at Birmingham City University, and was previously Head of Physical Education and Achievement for Youth Sport Trust
