This course qualifies secondary teachers to teach gymnastics skills suitable for Key Stages 3 and 4. It focuses on developing basic movements into more advanced gymnastic skills on the floor and apparatus, with a strong emphasis on safe practice throughout. The course is ideal for teachers delivering gymnastics as part of the GCSE curriculum.
It is a two-day course accredited by British Gymnastics, open to teachers and teaching assistants who hold a QTS or formal qualification, as well as those working towards these qualifications. The course meets all Local Authority and Academy Chain requirements for teaching gymnastics. All sessions are led by British Gymnastics qualified and approved tutors and include the Governing Body’s comprehensive resource pack.
- Basic floor skills (Part one)
- Basic floor skills (Part two)
- Flight (including rebound)
- Acrobatic gymnastics
- Partner/rhythmic gym
- General principles of support
- Develop the necessary skills required to teach set moves
- Develop the ability to incorporate apparatus and sequencing into lessons
- Help you to understand and underpin good body management
- Teach you how to identify and remedy common faults

Course meets for registration at 8.30am and the course runs 9.00am – 3.00/3.30pm each day. Price includes British Gymnastics resource pack, certification and catering. In the event of you needing to cancel a place on a British Gymnastics course, please note we require 28 days notice. Discounts do not apply to British Gymnastics courses.
