    This introductory course is designed to help teachers develop an understanding of Basketball, enabling them to deliver lessons and coach younger or less experienced teams with confidence. It is ideal for PE teachers who may not have a background in the sport, as well as those working with lower-ability school teams. The course offers a variety of fundamental skills, strategies, and practical approaches to develop young players effectively. Teachers will also be introduced to the key rules of the game and how to apply them clearly and confidently in a school environment

    • Introducing the game
    • Developing the basic skills: footwork, dribbling and passing
    • Shooting: lay-up, jump shot, free throw and improvised shots
    • Skills, drills and practices
    • Individual and team defence
    • Game play ideas from 1v1 to 5v5
    • Introduction to Rules and refereeing
