This long-established course is designed for teachers who are new to coaching and umpiring Hockey, or who have not been involved in the school game for some time. It provides a practical introduction to modern coaching methods, together with the tactical principles that underpin successful team play. Participants will gain the knowledge and confidence to develop individual players and prepare school teams for competition. The course includes a range of conditioned training games and practical guidance on planning effective sessions for both 7-a-side and 11-a-side Hockey. Umpiring skills are also covered, enabling teachers to officiate school matches confidently, particularly at younger age groups and lower ability levels. It provides everything needed for novice coaches to make a positive contribution to Hockey within the school setting.
