This course is designed for teachers new to coaching Hockey in schools. It covers fundamental skills and strategies for both the 7-a-side (Into) Hockey and the full 11-a side game. Participants will be introduced to coaching techniques focused on individual player development, alongside tactical approaches to building a strong team. With extensive video examples, this course will equip novice coaches with the knowledge and confidence to deliver safe, engaging sessions and effectively manage lower-ability school teams.

Matt Taylor

Matt Taylor

Matt Taylor is the Head Coach of Nottingham University, who won the BUCS championships in 2014-15, 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24. He was previously head coach of Beeston HC in the Men’s Premier Division, winning three championships between 2010-2014. He has also helped developed 80+ junior players gain presentative honours for the National Age Squads as well as having coached 45+ senior Internationals. As a player Matt won seven Championship titles with Cannock HC.
