Face to Face Event
with Dan Cottrell

Dates & Venues
Many teachers and coaches are required to officiate school matches, often in front of audiences of parents. Rugby is probably the most complex and demanding school game to referee. This course aims to support coaches of limited experience, and to build confidence that they can establish a safe environment, communicate positively and let the game flow.
Using an on-field environment and real-time situations, the course will cover the following key areas:
- Characteristics of successful referees
- The Laws: what you must know, might know and may know
- Dealing with common situations
- Effective communication, with players and parents
- Ensuring flow in the school game
- Understanding and applying materiality
- Managing a positive matchday environment
