The Importance of Self-Awareness in Leadership

with David Faulkner MBE OLY

Face to face

Course Description

Over 70% of Directors of Sport say that leadership is the dimension of their role they would most like to improve. It is also the area in which they have had least training and support. This course aims to address this issue, providing an understanding of leadership, and how this can be applied practically in a school sport situation.  David Faulkner exploits his unique combination of experience in performance sport, organisational leadership and as a school Director of Sport. He will deliver the skills and approaches that will enable Directors of Sport, and other sports leaders, to thrive in a school setting.

  • Challenges for school sport leaders
  • The People Dimension Principles: Self-Awareness, People Acuity, Agility and Self-management
  • Understanding your behaviour style and the impact you have on others
  • Understanding how others see you
  • Coaching and leading the different styles
  • Relevant case studies from business, education and sport
  • Four Hats everyone wears day to day
  • Managing upwards: the 360 degree leader
